Windows Accelerator (WXL) Software from OCZ Storage Solutions – a Toshiba Group Company is a caching solution for Windows Server based physical servers that enables IT managers to efficiently accelerate database and application performance. It is designed to dramatically improve the performance and latency on your SAN and DAS system by intelligently caching the most frequently accessed data on flash storage. What Problem Does WXL Solve?

WXL Software increases application performance by reducing I/O latency between the storage system and the applications that users run on their servers. By accelerating the storage array with WXL, application performance and responsiveness are greatly improved. The software is integrated with OCZ enterprise SSD flash cards (PCIe, SATA or SAS based) and its out-of-band cache statistics processing selectively caches data and accelerates I/O access while avoiding processing in the data path itself.

WXL has been tested using Microsoft® Exchange JetStress on a high performance SAN array. When combined with a Z-Drive 4500 SSD provided an 8X increase in Transactions per Second (TPS) while reducing the average latency by a factor of 6X when compared to a standalone SAN.
